Problem Statement

Business and Investor users need to see a clear path to success in achieving their business and financial goals with The Globe and Mail content. They need to make informed decisions in business, investing and personal finance, and rely on The Globe to guide them throughout all experiences within our digital spaces.

Business and Investor users need a system for surfacing relevant information so they get all the info they need in whatever format is most helpful so they can be successful in any moment.

Business and Investor users need both a highly focused and contextual experience of the content they access on ROB. Articles must present the facts, anticipate questions, show relationships and connect the dots to enhance users’ knowledge. Every article provides an a-ha of useful information that they can use today, and the a-ha is addictive and exciting.

Journalists need a way to reduce time on commodity content and mundane tasks in order to focus on creating valuable content for readers so we can continue providing high-value content for our readers and go beyond what readers expect.

Business and Investor users need a well-organized platform to effortlessly funnel the business and investing information they want and need — into their brains. In the model that works for them at any given moment: at home, on the go, at work.

Strategy

  1. Help readers achieve their financial and professional goals at different life stages with interactive tools and personal finance and business content.

  2. Provide deeper context and understanding on every article visit through contextual content and navigation based on a reader’s interests.

  3. Provide the curated, customized, and personalized user experience that our readers want on our platforms.

  4. Service readers through customized content delivery, notifications, and conversational UI to keep them informed.

  5. Automate and augment financial story creation through robo-journalism to scale low-value content to as many readers as possible.

From strategy to concept

Once the strategy is set, I explore the design concepts and validate them quickly with prospective users. I design the end-to-end journey and create a prototype to present to the Board of Directors. As a result, it provided the executive teams with confidence and give the product team a clear direction to create a new product roadmap and features.
